11/29/2021 The Willows Are Afraid of the WindA poem by Aiden Lindeman As the branches that hold me by the shoulders begin to creak
I am engulfed in peril of it all The depth below my dangling feet grows faster and faster A consuming, vast, and infinite depth Where light is none and caved walls surround all it swallows It echoes every word I’ve said Everything I’ve done Every person I’ve seen And it starts to creak louder The branches will break eventually And the eternal punishment I have feared will catch up to me Like a cat catches up to a willow Pause *snap* As time slows and she floats down from her pedestal She whispers a solemn lullaby into my ear Fly. Fly Against the wind that pushes pushes you in And fear no longer that wind Comments are closed.
